As first reported by the New York Times on Wednesday, Amazon.com launched two new models of the Kindle e-reader today.Both new units will be smaller and weigh less than existing Kindle models, according to Times reporter Claire Cain Miller. Likewise, they will feature higher-resolution screens and the text should be easier to read, according to various media reports.One of the new Kindles will eschew 3G technology and will connect to the e-reader's online store through Wi-Fi only. It will carry a suggested retail price of $139. The other will replace the basic Kindle 2 model--which was listed as out of stock Wednesday evening at the e-retailer--and will share that unit's $189 price tag."The hardware business for us has been so successful that we?re going to continue," Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos told Miller.
